7.1. Example - FMD with Products only
To complete the FMD section of the data collection form you must first have products and/or sub-products on the Products section
The Products section of the data collection form is a mandatory section
Click in the appropriate cell to add data to the mandatory fields in red.
In most cases the Product Id column of the Products section will be pre-populated with the product(s) that you supply to your customer.
If you click and hover over the column headers which have a red triangle in the top right hand corner of the cell, you will see an explanation of the data that is required.
In this example there are 3 products which must have FMD data, they are all at Level 1
In this example, every Level 1 product from the Products section must appear in the FMD section because this is a flat BOM
each Level 1 product from the Products section is broken down into Materials
each Material is broken down into Substances
all of the masses of the substances add up to the mass of the material
all of the masses of the materials add up the the mass of the Level 1 product
in this example the chemical Lead in Material Semiconductor device in Level 1 product Demo Part-2 has a RoHS Exemption 15(a)
all of the Substance Mass in each Material must add up to the Material Mass
Enter the CAS number for substances if they have one
the Concentration (PPM) for substances in each Material must add up to 1000000
Concentration (PPM) is a mandatory field and must add up to 1000000 in each Material
You can enter the Substance Mass and the form will calculate the Concentration (PPM) for you
In this example I clicked Validate and lock section and a pop-up window appeared to warn me that data is missing for product Demo Part-3
I cannot move on until I enter data for Product Demo Part-3
In this example, to enter data for product Demo Part-3
click in a blank Product or sub-product row below the last substance
a pop-up window lets me know that the declaration is 67% complete
data is missing for product Demo Part-3
I pick Demo Part-3 from the pop-up window
And product Demo Part-3 is added to the sheet along with mandatory fields for Material, Material Mass, Substance, and Concentration (PPM)
Enter this data and click the Validate and lock section button to see if you have missed any necessary data
In this example I have entered 1.5gm of materials and substances for product Demo Part-3 but I claimed it has a mass of 3gm on the Products section of the form
When I click the Validate and lock section button, a pop-up window appears and warns me that I cannot proceed until I declare the additional 1.5gm of materials and substances for product Demo Part-3
Click the Validate and lock section button when complete. Correct any errors as applicable.
