7.2. Example - FMD with Sub-Products

To complete the FMD section of the data collection form you must first have products and/or sub-products on the Products section.
The Products section of the data collection form is a mandatory section.
Click in the appropriate cell to add data to the mandatory fields in red.

In most cases the Product Id column of the Products section will be pre-populated only with the product(s) that you supply to your customer.
You must add Sub-Products to this section especially if they are REACH articles.

If you click and hover over the column headers which have a red triangle in the top right hand corner of the cell, you will see an explanation of the data that is required.
In this example there are 3 products which must have FMD data, they are all at Level 1.
Sub-Products will always appear at Level 2 and higher.

In this example, we will add Sub-Products to the Level 1 Products in the Products section of the data collection form.
Then we will add materials and substances to the lowest level in the FMD section.
This not a flat BOM

Demo Part-1 will have 4 Sub-Products
I will declare materials and substances against 3 (three) of the Sub-Products because they will not will have any materials and substances
1 (one) Sub-Product Demo SP-1D will have 2 (two) Sub-Products and those will have materials and substances
Never put materials and substances on a Sub-Product that has Sub-Products

To add a Sub-Product to Demo Part-1, pick Demo Part-1 then pick Add Sub-Products/Child

A new row will be added below Demo Part-1 at Level 2 with mandatory fields highlighted in red.
Notice that this is a Sub-Product because the Qty field is available.

Repeat the process 3 (three) more times.
Each time pick Demo Part-1 then pick Add Sub-Products/Child.
If you make a mistake and the Level is not 2, pick the cell, then pick Delete Row to delete the row.

Enter the Product Id.
Then pick Demo SP-1D Level 2 and pick Add Sub-Products/Child twice (2x)

There should now be 2 (two) Sub-Products at Level 3.

Enter the required data for the Sub-Products.
Note that only the Sub-Products need a value for Qty.
Note that only the Level 1 Products have mandatory Query List statements (if required by your customer).

Click the Validate and lock section button when complete to move to the FMD section
A pop-up window will appear listing all off the Products and Sub-Products that require material and substance data.
Pick Demo SP-1A

The mandatory fields for Demo SP-1A will appear.
Enter data for Demo SP-1A

If you need to add additional substances to a Product or Sub-Product, begin typing in the next Substance field and the Concentration (PPM) field will become mandatory when you click enter.

When you need to enter data for a new Product or Sub-Product, pick a cell in the Product or sub-product field, below a gray cell, and a pop-up window will appear for you to choose the next one.
The pop-up window will also display your progress.

If you want to add an additional chemical to an existing Product or Sub-Product, pick the existing Substance field and pick Add row.
